Massage
Massage is the oldest healing art. Touch is vital to our emotional and physical well-being, yet it is often underestimated and misunderstood. Evidence is mounting that stress and unhappiness prevent the immune system from fighting disease efficiently. Taking care of ourselves can literally make us live longer and improve the quality of our lives in the process.

Acupressure Massage Acupressure is an ancient Chinese technique based on the same principles as acupuncture, and involves the use of finger pressure (without the needles) on specific points along the body.

Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centers in the body. This diffuses the accumulation of built up toxins which may have been causing stiffness throughout the body. Acupressure massage therapy stimulates and activates the body’s own energies to help fight illness and restore harmony.

Some of the acupressure points are significant as they relate to a specific part of the body while others are more general in their effect. Acupressure can help alleviate ailments such as tension, stress, aches and pains, arthritis, or menstrual cramps. It can also be used for general preventative health care.

Energetic Massage treats the mind, body and spirit as one entity in order to ensure total harmony and a feeling of well-being The holistic model suggests that illness affects mind and body and that both should therefore be treated together. The energy concept is based on the idea we all have a “life force” in the body. This life-force is common to all existence. The goal is to help the client relax, release tension and blocks that are in the body and which effect us mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is achieved by using breathing techniques, tapping, intuition and the power of touch.

Hot Stone Massage is a full body relaxation massage enhanced with hot stone therapy. Heated basalt stones are applied both on top of and under the body as well as used to massage the body. The warm rocks, coupled with the steady pressure of massage and blend of oils, radiate warmth and induce a deep state of relaxation, lifting away the tensions and stresses held within the muscles.

The emotional, mental and physical energies are balanced; restoring the body’s natural healing processes.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage
The lymphatic system is the disposal system for the cells of the body. A gentle light touch of hand or fingertips on the skin can stimulate the stagnant or sluggish flow of lymph within the body to up to twenty times its normal rate. This aids in detoxification and rejuvenation of the tissues.

Benefits of Lymph Drainage:
  • Relieves heaviness, tightness, swelling and pain
  • Increases overall relaxation by decreasing stress levels
  • Relieves retention of fluids during pregnancy
  • Decreases local edemas from surgery. This speeds healing time and decreases inflammation, swelling and pain.
Relaxation Massage uses a variety of long flowing strokes to increase the oxygen flow and release of toxins from the muscles. Massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Relaxation Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. Improved circulation is known to reduce pain and stiffness.
